December 2003

It's been almost 5 years since Marcy Playground released their last CD, but their long-awaited third album, aptly titled MP III , will be released on March 23, 2004 on Reality Entertainment. MP III features 14 new tracks.

According to bassist Dylan Keefe, the time between releases has primarily been a result of a difficult change in drummers. "When Dan [Rieser] left us, we couldn't just run out and find someone to play drums. We're too tight knit of a group. It takes a certain familial chemistry, like we had with Dan, to make Marcy Playground. And really,... that's what it is, we're like a family. We basically had to bond with a new brother before we went any further. Gonz is our new brother."

Also during this period, Dylan has played bass in several well known NYC bands, while working on a nationally syndicated NPR (National Public Radio) broadcast called "On The Media". Woz has been writing material for the new album, as well as producing various artists out of Mushroom Studios, in Vancouver Canada.

Now, however, Woz, Dylan and Gonz are completely focused on MP III . "Every artist always loves their latest album best," explains Woz, "and so at the moment, I believe MP III is the best we've ever done. It rocks harder. I wanted to make a kick ass record. And it DOES kick ass. I think when people listen to it, they will hear the same heart that's always been in our songs, but with more wisdom." Woz is respected as a master storyteller in the industry, and the songs on MP III are sure to back up that reputation.

MARCY PLAYGROUND INK WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH REALITY ENTERTAINMENT

Platinum selling artist, Marcy Playground, has just signed a worldwide deal with Reality Entertainment. The band’s first two albums were on Capitol, but they recently made the switch to this indie for their upcoming release entitled “MP3”. According to band frontman John Wozniak, the band made the jump to Reality because of its expertise with previously established bands. “We feel like we have a partnership with Reality as opposed to being one of many bands on a large roster”.

Label President, Warren Croyle explains, “We are thrilled to have Marcy on our roster. Not only because they are already a proven entity, but also because I believe that Marcy Playground is one of those special, original bands with longevity who will leave their mark in music history.”

Marcy Playground are about to begin work on “MP3” in Vancouver, at world re-known Mushroom Studios.

Reality Entertainment, based in northern California and Europe is distributed by Sony in Europe and Shelter in the U.S.
